I’ve said it before and I’ll say it now – I love giving treats out. And I love how easy it is to design super cute treat bags and boxes with Stampin’ Up! products.
One of the new items available in the July to January mini catalog (contact me if you want one) are the Star Treat Bags:

These are pretty cute with their star cut-outs, letting you peek inside. They are a great size to: 3 1/2″ wide, 2″ deep, and 5 1/4″ tall. You can fit a lot in there.
I wanted to pair these adorable bags up with the new Celebrate with Tags bundle:

For orders under $150, please use hostess code VKEV22HZ upon check out. If your order is over that amount, don’t use that code and enjoy those Stampin’ Rewards. Contact me with any questions.
And I thought we could use some bright sunny colors (especially after my last card that probably made you think your eyes went gray – haha). I decided that Polished Pink, Tahitian Tide, and Parakeet Party were going to be the colors I used.
I also thought it would be fun to try some water coloring being that it is World Watercolor Month. Stampin’ Up! put out this short video to show you all the ways you can incorporate water coloring into your crafting. I can’t wait to try more:
I used a water color wash technique to help fill in those stars – here’s the info.
To make this bag, you’ll need the following supplies:
- Celebrate with Tags Bundle
- Star Treat Bags
- Fluid 100 Water color paper (3 1/4″ x 5″)
- Scraps of Basic White card stock
- Waterpainters
- Inks: Polished Pink, Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party
- In Color Classic Matte Dots and Bakers Twine
- Basic Tools (snips, trimmer, adhesives, clear blocks)
- Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (mini or regular – whatever you have)
To make this bag, follow these steps:
- Using a Waterpainter, get your water color paper nice and wet
- Squeeze some ink from the ink pads onto the lid – pick some ink up using a Waterpainter and add to the wet paper. The colors with spread. Be sure to clean your painter in between adding different colors. Set the paper aside to dry
- Stamp you “Made with Love” twice – one in Polished Pink and once in Tahitian Tide. Cut one with the stitched circle die from the bundle and the words ‘made’ and ‘love’ using the banner die from the set. Stamp ‘XOXO’ in Tahitian Tide and Parakeet Party – cut out using the matching die.
- When your water colored paper is dry, put two strips of Tear & Tape down the long edges (on the front). Remove backing and carefully apply to the inside of the Star Treat bag so that colored paper ‘colors’ in the star cut outs.
- Adhere sentiments using Dimensionals.
- Add some Matte Dots as desired.
- Using 32″ lengths of Parakeet Party, Starry Night, and Tahitian Tide twine, wrap around bag and tie a bow.
What do you think? I love it – so bright and happy!
