Penguin Place Wine Tag

While I’m getting ready for my Christmas in July Stamp Camp this weekend, I thought I’d share some projects from last year.

These penguins are so cute!

I’ve been checking “techniques I’ve always wanted to try but haven’t” off my list lately – and this wine tag uses the reverse image stamping technique. I wanted my penguins going every which way – but the stamp set only has him going in one.

I took a 3 1/2″ by 5″ piece of Just Jade cardstock as my base. I used a 3″ x 4 1/2″ piece of Basic White for my scene (and layered that on top of a 3 1/4″ x 4 5/8″ piece of DSP – this is retired from Sale-A-Bration but any of the coordinating colors would do). I stamped my hills in Memento and shaded below with Smoky Slate blends. I stamped some snowflakes in Misty Moonlight (best blue ever!!!) on the background. I punched out my bottom penguin using Basic Black and White and stamped his cute little face.

So, how did I get my penguins sliding left and right? Very simply, I inked up a penguin and stamped him onto one of my silicone crafting sheets – I then pressed that silicone sheet onto my Basic White cardstock – and voila – the reverse image was created. The only thing I will say about this – is if you are doing a solid image (like the black on this penguin), you will most likely have to fill that solid part in. I did this with the Stampin’ Write Basic Black marker. I performed the same technique for his Calypso Coral beak. Now I had my two penguins racing up and down the snowy hills in different directions.

I stamped and fussy cut their hats and sentiment and adhered with glue dots. I threw on a few rhinestones for some shine. I took an 8″ length of the Frayed Blushing Bride ribbon, made a loop, and stapled it to my Just Jade base. I then took my DSP/Basic White piece and popped that up on the base with Dimensionals.

I’ve never made a wine tag like this before – it was super easy and I think super cute!
