January 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternative

I love the triple heart card in this month’s Paper Pumpkin – but when I held it in my hand, I knew I could do more with it. I cut those hearts apart and made a little peek-a-boo card:

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Blushing Bride, scored at 5 1/2″. I took a 4 3/16″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Very Vanilla and ran that through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine in the Gingham Embossing folder.

Because one end of the cut heart is flat, I decided to put that up against one edge of the card. I took that flat end and I placed it at the 1/4 ” mark on the right side of my trimmer and used the scoring blade to score. I then used the hole on the Detailed Trio Punch to punch a hole on the opposite side of the heart. I adhered the heart to the Very Vanilla piece all the way to the right using Tear & Tape adhesive along that little scored piece. This will help the heart ‘open’ and ‘close’ better.

I adhered the heart to the Very Vanilla piece first so I could line my ribbon up better. I took a 9-inch length of the gold shimmer ribbon and taped (using regular transparent type tape) to the back of the Very Vanilla piece at the same level of the hole I punched in the heart. Then I adhered that whole Very Vanilla/heart combo to the card base using Tear & Tape.

I used one of the Blushing Bride hearts that came with the kit for the inside peekaboo. I stamped in the Gray Granite ink that came with the kit and immediately covered that in clear embossing powder. I then heat set that using the Heat Tool. It adds just the right about of shimmer. I affixed that to the Very Vanilla piece using Dimensionals.

I took another length (about 7 inches) of the gold shimmer ribbon and weaved that through the punched hole in the heart and taped it down to the backside of the heart using transparent tape. You could use a glue dot here if you wanted, too. I tied the two pieces of ribbons together in a bow. I finished off the front of the card with a few adhesive sequins that came with the kit.

I used a piece of Very Vanilla on the inside of the card to add a sentiment. Easy-peasy.
