Polished Pink Poinsettia

I love Christmas greetings in both traditional and non-traditional colors

It’s no secret that the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and matching dies from last year are my favorite – I use them both a lot (see this example and this one). The sentiments are wonderful and the dies makes such impressive poinsettias!

I like dabbling in non-traditional holiday colors so I thought I’d give it another go. I used the In Color Shimmer Vellum in Polished Pink and Soft Succulent to create the flower. It paired so nicely with the Whimsy and Wonder DSP available in this year’s mini. Mixing old and new products is a great way to get more out of your purchases.

Here’s a close up of that flower – can you see the shimmer? The DSP has a nice shine, as well. I had to add a gold pop with the Gold and Rose Specialty paper.

This card went together rather quickly (those dies make it easy, I tell you). Cut the three poinsettia layers out using the frames and inner embossing pieces using the Polished Pink Shimmer Vellum, two of the leaves in Soft Succulent, and the center in the gold paper. Adhere the layers together using glue dots.

I adhered a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of the Whimsy and Wonder DSP to a Soft Succulent card base (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ – scored at 4 1/4″ along the longer side). I popped the poinsettia in the middle – affixing using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I took a 1″ x 4 1/8″ piece of DSP and adhered along the bottom of the card, stamped my sentiment on an 11/16″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Basic White and adhered to the strip of DSP.

I think this pretty simple layout could be used in so many different ways – I’d love to see what you’d come up with – please share!
