One Sheet Wonder Folio Tutorial

One Sheet Wonder Folio Tutorial

Today I’m sharing a fun and functional project that starts with just one 12″ x 12″ sheet of Designer Series Paper—and turns into a beautiful folio perfect for photos, notes, or happy mail!

This design is one of my favorites because it looks impressive but comes together with simple cuts and scoring. Let’s dive in!

Designer Series Paper (12″ x 12″)

  • Cut into:
    • 5 1/2″ x 12″
    • 6 1/2″ x 12″

Scoring:

  • 5 1/2″ x 12″ piece (long side):
    • Score at 4 1/8″ and 8 3/4″
  • 6 1/2″ x 12″ piece (long side):
    • Score at 7/8″, 3 1/4″, 7 3/4″, and 10 7/8″

  • Belly Band: 1 3/4″ x 11″
  • Scallop Layer: 4″ x 4″
  • Embossed Words Need: 6″ x 6″ cardstock
  • Inner Pockets (3): 1 1/2″ x 3 3/4″

Prepare Your Base

  • Start with your two scored pieces.
  • Burnish all score lines well for crisp folds.

Create the Folio Structure

  • The 5 1/2″ piece becomes your main wrap.
  • The 6 1/2″ piece nests inside to create pockets and layered panels.

Attach the Inner Section

  • Adhere the 5 1/2″ scored piece oustide the larger section, aligning it so the folds create natural compartments.

Add the Flaps

  • Attach the 1 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ pieces inside the center section to create pocket elements—perfect for photos or journaling.

Decorate the Front

  • Choose your embellishments for the front (I used the camera from the Capturing Smiles bundle)
  • Add the 4″ scallop square as a focal point for a sentiment or embellishment.

Wrap It Up

  • Use the 1 3/4″ x 11″ strip to create a belly band that slides over the folio and keeps everything neatly closed.

Here’s a quick (ish – well not so quick) video of me putting this folio together:

    • Use coordinating papers for a cohesive look—or mix patterns for a bold, layered effect.
    • Add magnets or Velcro under the belly band for extra security.
    • This folio makes a beautiful gift, mini album, or class project!

I love how much you can create from just one sheet of paper—it’s such a great reminder that you don’t need a ton of supplies to make something special.
