Hats Off to Dad!

Father’s Day card made with the Hats Off bundle and more – Images (c) Stampin’ Up! 2016-2021

Masculine cards are always a bit of a challenge for me. Should they always be blue? Do I have a stamp set with tools? Wait – is the recipient handy with tools – and the questions go on.

The new Hats Off bundle available in the Stampin’ Up! catalog makes it easy to create a masculine card without all the questions….. Well, you’ll have to decide on a color scheme but that shouldn’t be too hard when you think about who will be receiving the card.

To make this card, I stenciled the background of a Sahara Sand card base with the Basic Patterns ‘tree’ mask – I used a blending brush (love those!!) and Mossy Meadow ink. I adhered a strip of Sahara Sand(1 3/4″ x 5 1/2″) over a strip of Designer Series Paper from the In Good Taste pack (2 3/4″ x 5 1/2″). Before adhering that to the card base, I wrapped a length of the Early Expresso Faux Suede Trim around the lower portion of the Sahara Sand strip (I used tape to secure it to the back of the DSP). I glued that whole group to the card base.

To make the hat, I stamped the hat outline in Early Espresso on a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock – then went over that the Drybrush background stamp in Sahara Sand. I stamped the ‘DAD’ twice in Night of Navy – once on Night of Navy cardstock and once on Sahara Sand. I cut the navy piece out using the larger coordinating die and the Sahara Sand piece with the ‘stitched’ insert – then I fussy cut the border off of that so I could get the stitched patch look – do you like it?

I put the hat on the front using Dimensionals, slightly tilted (which may or may not have been on purpose) and stamped my sentiment to the left of that in Night of Navy.

I really liked how this turned out – I can’t wait to try more combos. What would you like see? (Leave a comment to let me know)

Below are the supplies I used to make the card:
