Fragrant Layers Birthday Card

I am pretty sure by looking at the weather map that most of you in the United States had some sort of awful weather this past weekend. So let’s send some vibes to the universe for some warmer temps – here’s a card that definitely has some spring feelings.

It used the Fragrant Layers bundle:

The dies are very detailed and I love how you can use them to ‘color’ your flowers. That is just what I did on this card.

Here are the measurements of the paper you’ll need to make this card:

  • Smoky Slate: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ (scored at 4 1/4 on the long side); 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Pretty in Pink: 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ (for floral die); 4″ x 1″ (for sentiment label)
  • Summer Splash: 1 1/2″ x 5″ (for leaf dies)
  • Basic White: 4″ x 5 1/4″ for inside writing panel

Use the rectangle shaped die (with the detailed floral image inside) to cut a rectangle out of the center of the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Smoky Slate panel. Cut out the floral and leaf shapes out of the Pretty in Pink and Summer Splash card stock. Adhere these cut outs behind the appropriate areas on the rectangle cut out. Once you have those pieces in place, affix this Smoky Slate panel to the card front using larger strips of Adhesive Foam sheets. I found it gave the panel a more ‘sturdy’ feel.

Stamp the sentiment on the longer Pretty in Pink panel with Summer Splash ink. Cut this out using the label die that has a small hole on either end of it. Run a 5″ length of Summer Splash ribbon through these holes and trim as needed. Affix this panel to the card front (I used liquid glue). Then affix the sentiment label to the card front using Dimensionals. Sometimes the ribbon gets ‘wiggly’ – you can use Glue Dots to help make it less so.

Would you use this color combo? Or choose something else? Let me know in the comments.
