Nests of Winter Thinking of You Card

We Stampin’ Up! demonstrators saw the Nests of Winter Suite Collection during the Creativity Now event in June (I love sneak peeks!) We made a few projects using these products and it was a lot of fun.

This suite became available to everyone when the new mini catalog launched at the beginning of September – take a look at all the goodness:

Here are the measurements for this card:

Coastal Cabana: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ on the long side
Copper Clay: 2 1/2″ x 4″; scrap at least 5/8″ x 3″
Nests of Winter DSP: 2″ x 4″, piece to fussy cut bird image
Basic White: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside panel), scrap at least 5/8″ x 3″

I used Versamark to stamp one of the twig images randomly on the card base – I could have used Coastal Cabana ink – but I like the Versamark is slightly more subtle. I then placed my larger panels of paper down but slightly askew. I also used the Birchwood Embossing Folder to add some texture to the Copper Clay piece.

I fussy cut one of the bird images out of the DSP pack. Six of the 12″ x 12″ sheets in the paper pack have these bird images on one side; some even coordinate with the dies from the set. I took a length of the Copper Clay twine and adhered it to the back of the bird image and then laid that down on the card front using Dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment on a scrap of Basic White and flagged the end. I took a similar-sized scrap of Copper Clay paper and flagged the end of that, as well. I adhered these two pieces under my bird friends and finished the card off with few Earth Tone Shimmer Gems.

I really like the shades of brown and blue together. Do you?
