Honeybee Card

That Hive 3D Embossing Folder makes some gorgeous texture on this card

Oooh – honeybees and Pale Papaya – what a great combo! The products from the Heart & Home collection are beautiful. Those of us demonstrators that attended OnStage at Home this past November were able to get a preview (and a pre-order). While we made samples using the Blessings of Home bundle, I knew I had to use the Honeybee components of the collection.

I went to the paper in this collection for inspiration. The Designer Series Paper offers so many options, I almost did not know where to start. Then I said to myself, “Honeybees….use the pattern with the honeybees….” I used the Cinnamon Cider colored ‘bee’ paper and it’s Basic Gray ‘wooden plank’ reverse for the panels on the front of the card. The patterns said ‘rustic’ to me so I roughed the edges up a bit with my scissors and bone folder.

For the main panel that I set on top of the Thick Basic White card base, I used a piece of Pale Papaya cardstock and ran it through the Cut N Emboss Machine with the 3D Hive folder. I then used my Cinnamon Cider Classic Ink Pad and inked up the edges.

I stamped the images in Cinnamon Cider and cut them out using the coordinating dies in the bundle. I then used my Blender Pens with Cinnamon Cider, Pale Papaya, and Garden Green ink to color in the images. (It’s best to wait for a little until completely dry). I sparkled up my bee with some Wink of Stella.

I adhered the ‘bee’ DSP a little askew on the embossed Pale Papaya piece, then the ‘wooden plank’ piece on that. I took a 6-inch piece of the Pale Papaya Open Weave ribbon and wrapped it around the center of that complete panel. I took the flower and bee cut-outs and adhered as shown using Dimensionals. I adhered the whole panel to the card base with Dimensionals.

To complete, I stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray ink on a 1/2″ strip of Basic White cardstock and adhered with Dimensionals. I tied a ribbon with some more Pale Papaya ribbon and affixed it with a mini glue dot. I then added some bling with the Champagne rhinestones.

Paper measurements:

  • Thick Basic White: 4 1/4″ x 11, scored at 5 1/2″ on the long side
  • Pale Papaya: 3 3/4″ x 5″ (to be run through the embossing folder)
  • Heart & Home DSP: 3″ x 4″ and 1 1/2″ x 4″
