Pop-Up Petals … Pop-Up Card

One more card for the week using the Pop-Up Petals Bundle from Stampin’ Up! And this time, I used the dies that help make cards even more fun by creating a pop-up mechanism.

If you take a look at the picture of the bundle above, note the two dies on the lower left that are shaped like rectangles. Those dies help make a pop-up mechanism in the center fold of your card. Take a look:

Here are the measurements for the paper that you’ll need:

  • Pecan Pie card base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Basic Beige insert: 5″ x 8″, scored at 4″
  • Woven Textures Designer Series Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (front panel), (2) 2 3/4″ x 5″ (inside)
  • Very Vanilla: 2″ x 5 1/4″ (front), 2 1/4″ x 5″ (inside), scraps for flowers
  • Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP: scrap for vase

I used a Basic Beige insert to help with the pop-up action. I used the smaller of the rectangle dies and lined up the center of the Basic Beige insert to the center of the die. I made sure that the bottom of the die was just over the edge of the cardstock. It cuts and scores just what you need to make that pop-up part.

Fold the Basic Beige insert as you would a card. Then open it up, and push the center of the die cut part inward and fold again. Glue the insert while it’s closed into the Pecan Pie card base, one side at a time. I cut and colored the vase and flowers and adhered them to one side of the pop-up piece.

For the front of the card, I placed a one-inch piece of masking paper over the center of the Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped and colored my flower images. When I was done, I removed the masking paper and stamped my sentiment. Of course, I had to add one more bunch of flowers to the front; this one with Dimensionals.

I can’t wait to make more of these!!

Here are the products that I used:
