Reindeer Fun Christmas Card
I have already had some major fun with the Reindeer Days Suite Collection but I just had to take it again. This time I wanted to use that little adorable deer head. Isn’t he cute?
I’ll give you the measurements quickly before I jump into the steps:
- Petal Pink: 8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored at 4 ¼” on the long side
- Pool Party: 4” x 4”
- Early Espresso: 2 ½” x 2 ½”
- Crumb Cake: 2 ½” x 2 ½”
- Pecan Pie: 2 ½” x 2 ½”
- Soft Sea Foam: 2” x 2”
- Calypso Coral: 1 ¾” x 5”
- Basic White: 4” 5 ¼” (insdie writing panel)
I started my card base by laying down some Petal Pink ink using a blending brush. I then flicked some Craft White ink all over. I like that look – how about you?
While that was drying, I cut out my Pool Party frame, my deer layers, and wreath. I assembled the deer using liquid glue.
I cut the frame using the circular piece from the Reindeer Fun set with a Deckled Circle die around that so it became a free-standing piece. Here’s a hint – If you are having trouble with the frame die cutting out all of those little pieces, place a piece of copy paper folded in half under the bottom plate of your die cutting machine. That acts like a shim and helps add just a little more pressure to help that die really give a good cut. I had to do that to get my cuts deep enough – this will safe you some frustration.
There are three dies used for the deer head (2 if you want to make a doe – you can just skip the antlers). For my deer, I used Early Espresso for the antlers, Crumb Cake for the middle layer, and Pecan Pie for the top layer. I may have to make a bunch of gift tags with these guys.
I cut my Calypso Coral piece out using a die from the Peaceful Pines set but used a sentiment from the Reindeer set. I used Versamark ink and silver embossing powder which I set using my heat tool.
I finished off the sentiment with some Iridescent Ribbon from the Full of Life Suite. I adhered everything to the card front using Dimensionals. I completed the card using some Iridescent Faceted Gems. Woo hoo – I love it!
