Potions & Spells Hocus Pocus Card

One last card (maybe) using the Potions & Spells bundle. I used a technique that I saw at a demonstrator meeting – it was presented by Natalie White from Stampin’ Up! I certainly thought that it would not work. Well I finally tried it and was floored at how cool it was.

But Jen – what’s the technique?!?!? I stamped the cauldron image in Versamark ink. I then scraped some pastel of onto my Glass Mat and picked some of that powder up with a sponge dauber. I gently made circular motions over the Versamark image and voila! Not only did it ‘color’ in the stamped lines with a darker color, it filled in the rest of the image with a lighter color. How cool! I can’t wait to try it on other stamped images.

I also cut the ‘goo’ leaking out of the cauldron from a Window Sheet and colored it in using a Stampin’ Blend – I love how it looks.

My fold for this card was a simple one. I took a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic Black cardstock and scored it on the long side at 4 1/4″ and 8 1/2″. It’s sort of like a mega matchbook. (Hey – I like the way that sounds). I used a piece of DSP cut at 3″ x 4″ and piece of Basic White cut at 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″. I used a blending brush to color in the Basic White piece and then flicked some water spots on it to give a bit of a distressed look. These panels decorated the front of the card. (There is a 4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White on the inside for a writing panel.)

I stamped and colored my goofy litter bird out and then fussy cut him. I put it all together as shown:

I hope you like it – and I think I’m going to use this fold for some Christmas cards for the craft fair that I take part in each year. Here are the links to the products I used – thanks for your support:
