Potions & Spells Sparkly Halloween Card

Everyone loves a good Halloween bundle – the Potions & Spells bundle is spook-tacular

One of Stampin’ Up!’s July Online Exclusives was the Potions & Spells bundle. If you love Halloween, this set it for you. I initially got it for that dang goofy crow (we’ll see him later in the week) but the cauldron is what I focus on this week. I’ll be showing you three different ways to prepare that cauldron for all your ghoulish card needs.

Take a look at the bundle – I think it’s so much fun:

Here are the measurements of paper you’ll need:

  • Granny Apple Green card base (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ on the long side)
  • Smoky Slate DSP (3″ x 5″)
  • Basic White (4″ x 5 1/4″ for sentiment panel on the inside, 3″ x 5″ for card front, 4″ x 4″ for cauldron)
  • Scraps of Pecan Pie and Early Espresso for the broom
  • Berry Burst, Old Olive, Shimmer White Glimmer DSP (1/2″ x 4 1/4″ – one of each color)

I did a few fun things with this card. The first was coloring in the cauldron with Smoky Slate blends and using the Color Lifter blend to make a ‘shine’ mark on the upper right hand part of the cauldron – fun!

The next ‘fun’ technique I used was making the white glimmer paper into a piece of Pumpkin Pie glimmer paper. I used a Blending Brush and the ink pad to transform the piece. I simply inked up my brush and laid down the color until I was satisfied with the hue.

Another ‘fun’ thing I did – which I have not done in a long time, was using my Wink of Stella pen to loosen up the Granny Apple Green water color penciled bubbles. After shading the bubbles, I went over them with the Wink of Stella –

I hope you enjoyed this card – Here are the supplies I used:
