December 2023 Paper Pumpkin and Alternative #1

After living in a world consumed by silver, gold, reds, and greens, I was so looking forward to opening December’s Paper Pumpkin kit.

It was bright and looks straight towards spring – breaking free a little from the winter doldrums. (I’m not sure about the winter doldrums here – this past Friday, I was walking around in a light sweater which is a little weird for late December in New York – but who knows)

Here are the three cards I made following the instructions in the kit:

Aren’t they pretty? Those pops of gold embellishment and those light blue faceted gems are really very pretty.

Here is a fun little spin on the kit using some an element that I personally have never tried to modify in any way – the envelope! I made a gift card holder out of one (and one of the card fronts).

I scored the envelope at 2 7/8″ on the long side and then cut the envelope flap along that score line. I sealed the flap down on side and then ‘tucked’ and sealed the other flap inside the envelope.

I cut one of the card bases in half and used one panel for the cover on the upper part of the inside of this little gift card holder and one part for the tag. The upper panel was cut at 4 3/8″ x 2 13/16″ and the tag was cut at 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″.

I used the Very Best Trio punch for the edges of the tag and for making the ribbon hole. I used Pebbled Path and White Herringbone Ribbon (with a tad bit of Linen Thread).

Hope you liked this – I thought it was fun!
