October 2021 Paper Pumpkin and Alternative

A simple alternative using elements from this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit

This month’s Paper Pumpkin kit is pretty if you follow the instructions provided:

The kit’s two card designs per instructions

But…..sometimes you have to try something different. I saw some people online mentioning how the cardstock could be cut in half to create more cards…I hadn’t received my kit yet so I was a little confused.

Once I got my kit and opened it up, I saw what they meant. One of the two card designs (the one with the black and white trees) has that tree image on the whole card base. If you cut it in half, you know have two beautiful black and white winter scenes measuring 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

I did just that and then trimmed down to 4″ x 5 1/4″ – I affixed that to a Real Red card base (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ along the long side). I stamped a sentiment on one of the included tags in the Shaded Spruce ink that came in the kit. I placed a strip of Real Red (4″ x 1 1/4″) along the bottom of the tree scene. I used a punch I had (1 1/2″ – now retired but you can use the Layering Circle dies) to cut out a cabin from the Peaceful Place DSP – I layered that over the Shaded Spruce Buffalo Plaid cut out included in the kit and affixed that over the red strip – and then placed the sentiment next to it. Some of the sparkly embellishments from the kit went on next –

How easy was that?!

Simple and pretty
